"Sasha, at Windswept Editing, worked on my debut novel, turning it into a structured and sound piece of work. Her attention to detail at every stage of development, and especially for character motivation, have been insightful and produced emotional attachment for my characters in my readers.

Sasha comes from a different writing genre than my own (horror/post-apocolytic). I believe this has added even more value to the process and provided a perception I was needing. I definitely will be keeping her for the remainder of my series and recommend her talents to others striving to add levels of professionalism with prompt and kind service."

Stories are a lens for our experience. They allow us to imagine other ways of being and seeing. They tell us who we are. My job as editor is to ensure nothing gets in the way of that.

I work to ensure clarity, both in your overall story and at the sentence level. I promise an attention to style, and vision you won't get elsewhere.

I have years of fiction-editing experience. I have an MA in English and Creative Writing. My own writing has won numerous awards. Read a sample here. I also teach writing and literature at a university.

I assist writers at all stages in their writing—from development to final editing. I provide a sense of meticulous detail and an eye to the bigger picture.

Nervous about hiring an editor? Don't be! My job is to make your writing shine! Contact me and let’s talk about what I can do for you. I would love to help you tell your story.

BOOK COACHING

Book coaching is a combined service that includes all levels of editing plus consultations to guide you through the book-writing process. Writing a book is hard! I provide the direction you need to navigate any roadblocks you encounter. I also tailor a plan specific to your needs. Let’s make a book you can be proud of!

DEVELOPMENTAL & SUBSTANTIVE EDITING

With developmental and substantive editing, I work on the larger elements of your story. I provide one-on-one consultation, a thorough work-through of your draft, and in-depth written commentary that addresses voice, style, vision, arc, character, structure, pacing, etc. If you have a draft but are not sure how to develop it, this option is for you.

COPY EDITING

As a copy editor, I work at the level of the sentence: the minutia of a manuscript. I inspect issues of grammar, phrasing, diction, consistency of style and voice, as well as proofreading elements (spelling, typographical, punctuation, and formatting errors). If you’re ready to finalize your manuscript, you need a copy edit.

PROOFREADING

Proofreading is the final pass of a work. With it, I address typographical, mechanical, spelling, and punctuation errors, as well as formatting or layout inconsistencies. Proofreading is only for manuscripts that have already been professionally edited.
